LITTLE LEO OF THE LIGHT

Chapter 3: The Mini-cruiser

As Little Leo and Glo pulled the mini-cruiser away from the abandoned Light platform, they both sensed that their young lives were to be filled with adventure in the near future. Neither Light Kid had ever left their homes before the Dark slavers had come. Now neither of them had a home. Now their common goal was to reach a Light platform that hadn’t been attacked by the Dark slavers. Once there, Little Leo would be able to tell them about his purpose to bring the Light races into a time when they would be able to defend themselves properly against the Dark forces.

Little Leo had figured out how to operate the mini-cruiser that had been left behind on the Light platform when the Dark slavers left with all the people. The cruiser was a miniature of a larger, much more advanced vessel. It was more than comfortable enough for the two Light Kids, as it was normally equipped for eight passengers and crew. The craft was equipped with state-of the-art technology that included a dimensional converter that transformed matter into another dimension. It was also equipped with cloaking sensors, interdimensional activity alerts and tracking capability. Little Leo’s training had provided him with the necessary technology to repair the malfunction that had grounded the mini-cruiser. Now he had to program the vessel to transport him and Glo to the nearest Light platform that he had located on the star charts in the navigator’s chartroom.

Little Leo had been trained to program the onboard computer to chart a course to their destination, when he had studied interstellar navigation at the Academy of Universal Travel on his home planet. The computer had been set up to accept input from anyone who was familiar with coding dimensional travel. When it was told to do so, the dimensional converter would transform the molecular structure of the mini-cruiser and its contents, biological or not, into another state of reality that exists in another dimension. Once in a higher dimension, the craft would able to propel itself at unbelievable speed directly to its destination. There would be no time restraints, as there is no time in the dimensional universe. They wouldn’t have to worry about fuel either, since the mini-cruiser had been designed by Light engineers to propel itself with the Light.

Since Little Leo knew that Glo wasn’t familiar with space and interdimensional travel, he thought he’d better prepare her for the journey ahead. He said: “Make yourself comfortable. Pretty soon we’re going to be ready to reach trans-dimensional speed, which means that we’ll be able to travel through space in another dimension. That way, we can cover a lot of territory in no time at all.” Little Leo placed the tiny command controller, which would respond to his thoughts, over his ear.

As Glo fastened herself into the chair next to Little Leo, she asked: “What’s going to happen to my body while we’re traveling in another dimension? It won’t hurt, will it?”

Little Leo smiled as he said: “No, it won’t hurt a bit. It might make you feel a little queasy, though, so just refuse the effects. You can prepare yourself by getting into a higher dimensional state, so that your body will move easily into the altered physical dimension. That’s how we were taught at the Academy. There’s nothing to it. Here, I’ll help you.”

Glo relaxed while Little Leo told her to change dimensions to match what he did. Every Light child had been taught from a very young age to change dimensions when guided, so it was easy for Glo to follow Little Leo’s instructions.

Once Glo was in a higher dimensional state, Little Leo mentally entered the stellar coordinates for the nearest Light platform into the navigation system. Then, he mentally directed the cruiser to start the dimensional converters. He entered the settings so that the entire mini-cruiser and everything in it would enter Dimension 25 where it would allow interdimensional travel. Little Leo was already familiar with this system, because it had been part of his training, but he had never commanded a vessel by himself. He was a little excited, so he calmed himself down and sat back in his seat. “This is going to be good!” he thought to himself.

Almost immediately, Little Leo and Glo found themselves in Dimension 25, with their bodies in an altered state of reality. It sure felt weird! The speed and distance that they were traveling was awesome! Then, in a matter of seconds, it was over. The mini-cruiser whistled a little as it slowed down and came within visual distance of the Light platform.

Little Leo turned to Glo and said: “Just concentrate for a minute on the platform. Do you pick up any vibrations from it?”

Glo relaxed, closed her eyes and concentrated on the Light platform. A look of disappointment crossed her face as she remarked: “No, I don’t sense anyone. But there still seems to be a lot of Light energy there.”

Little Leo focused his attention on the space platform and mentally scanned it for the presence of vibrations. He, too, got a strange reading.

“You know,” said Little Leo, “I think we should have a look.” I didn’t pick up on any danger, and we might find something there that will help us.” Glo nodded in agreement.

The two homeless space travelers began the approach to land at the Light space platform. What would they find there? Would there be something of value to them? Would they be able to tell what had happened to the Light settlers?

Although Little Leo and Glo had just met that morning, they had crossed two galaxies to arrive at their destination. Since they were both born with Light spirits, they had a lot in common. All Light beings were born with knowledge of the Light, which gave them the ability to use the infinite power of the Light. However, as Little Leo grew older, he became convinced that the time for change was at hand. All Light beings should stand up and fight for their freedom! He hadn’t told Glo yet about his plans, since they had only just met. Now he was landing on another Light platform that had been attacked by the Dark forces, and he felt compelled to do something about it as soon as he could.

After they landed on the Light platform and stepped out of the mini-cruiser, Little Leo instructed Glo not to leave his side. They had both sensed a weird vibration on the platform, and they had to make sure that they weren’t walking into a trap. Their psychic abilities were strong, but they were aware that the Dark side had developed very advanced psychic powers, as well. One thing that helped them to escape detection by the negative forces was to remain completely positive at all times. In other words, if Glo was afraid for any reason, it would make it easier for the Dark ones to locate her. Since they weren’t sure who was aboard the platform, Little Leo wanted to remain safe from early detection.

Soon they had covered the first level of the platform and, just as they started to make their way around the second level, Little Leo sensed that someone was close behind them. He tried to tune in on the vibration, but it was unlike any vibration that he had ever sensed before. Since he didn’t sense any danger, Little Leo decided to let their observer make his appearance without forcing the play.

As Little Leo and Glo entered the children’s recreation hall, they were so happy that the place hadn’t been destroyed. There was a large open space with a central seating area, and colorful plants and flowers covered the perimeter of the room. Little Leo skipped over to the middle of the room, where he placed his hands on a sphere made of a glass-like substance. All at once, there were colored lights moving in intricate patterns on the walls and ceiling, and the most beautiful sounds that either kid had ever heard filled the room. Little Leo had activated a central music creator that had tuned into his thought patterns, just like the device he used to play on his home planet. Both kids started to laugh and dance around as the sounds seemed to flow through them with the beauty of the Light.

All of a sudden, the music made a strange sound and, from the corner of his eye, Little Leo glimpsed a shadow moving slowly along the side of the room. Glo didn’t seem to notice, so Little Leo kept dancing around the room. Then Little Leo started to sing, and Glo joined in with him. Their voices sounded so beautiful in that room, as they made up a melody and words to match how they felt. The shadowy figure seemed to be fascinated by their actions and stopped moving.

Little Leo knew that a certain shrill note would cause all the lights in the room to brighten at the same time, so he let out a sound that stopped Glo in her tracks. “What are you doing? she asked. Little Leo whispered to her: “Just stay where you are. I’ll be right back!”

Little Leo dashed over to where the shadow had been. Standing there in the spotlight, looking very shocked, was a big alien that looked like a hairy beast!
