Have you ever filled the sky with bubbles?

Hi! Partia here with my imaginary little friends Emu and Velta. We're creating colorful bubbles, and you can, too! Here's how:

SPECIAL HINT: If you add glycerine to your bubble solution you can make more beautiful, bigger and stronger bubbles.

You'll need:

A flat plastic bowl
2 cups of water
4 tablespoons of liquid dish detergent
4 tablespoons of glycerine (from the drug store)

Mix the ingredients gently in your bowl. (Store the solution in a tightly covered jar when not in use).

Take a metal wire hanger and shape a circle to fit into the flat bowl, then bend the rest of the wire to form a handle like an oval.

Completely dip your metal circle into the solution and lift it carefully on the handle. Gently move it through the air sideways. A big beautiful oval bubble will appear, shining in all colors!

Now you can experiment:

What happens when you twist the wire circle a little?
Blow lightly into the circle?
Have two circles?
Use pipe cleaners or rope instead of wire?
Make different shapes like squares or triangles flat or 3D?

Explore and experiment with things that come to your mind!

FOR GROUP FUN:

You'll need a larger container, more bubble solution and a plastic hoop.

You can take turns standing in the hoop and see the bubble rise up around you, or lift the hoop in different ways to make huge odd-shaped bubbles.

Explore and enjoy it! :)

I'd like to hear how much fun you had with your giant bubbles. Would you like to draw or write about it?

So long from Partia!
